The Albright Arts Night is just 5 days away and we couldn’t be more excited to be hosting such an amazing event with such great performers. This post is dedicated to highlighting those performers and presenting you with some information about them.
Sophomore Mike Barreto will be opening the festivities at our first ever Arts Night, and we are pumped to hear his beautiful acoustic performance. A man who’s been handsome since he was 4 years old (no records of handsomeness can be found before the age of 4, but we bet he was), Mike is an Art Education major and cites Alkaline Trio as a major influence. Mike is also a dedicated member of the Alpha Sigma Phi chapter at Albright.
Catie Deiley, a senior at Albright, will be bringing her strong voice and literary expertise to the Arts Night, performing a fired set of spoken word. Catie has been the president of AGON, Albright’s literary magazine, since her Junior year and plays the bassoon in the symphonic band. Check out one of her published pieces online via The Newer York.
Siobhan O’Hara will be performing her first ever stand-up comedy set at the Arts Night, but she has plenty of experience in comedy. Now a senior, Siobhan has been president of the Less Than Or Equal To Improv and Comedy Troupe since her Junior year and has been a member since her Freshman year. You can watch her (and fellow performer Jason Brown) in some sketches by going to Less Than’s Youtube page.
Winners of the Crowd Favorite distinction during Albright Idol ’13, Band 4 is a high octane rock group that is pretty new to Albright’s campus, featuring three freshman. We can’t wait to see them bust their moves at the Arts Night.
A graduate of 2012, Jason Brown is one of the funniest men to walk Albright’s campus. A former president and member of Less Than Or Equal To Improv and Comedy Troupe, Jason is also an accomplished member of Domino Players Theater Company and is also featured in and wrote many of Less Than sketches online. Check out his absurd sense of humor in the hilarious Mr. Sprinkles.
Friendship Bracelet will be performing their second show ever at the Arts Night. Their first show found them as one of two winners of the Albright’s Got Talent competition and they will be moving to the next level (along with singer Krispy Perez) to compete in Berks Got Talent in April. You can check them out on facebook to see updates from this up and coming group.
Our headlining act is Albright’s long-form improv team Soviet Purgatory. Formed in 2013, Soviet Purgatory is an auditioned long-form team that is making waves in the Pennsylvania college improv scene. You can like them on facebook or visit their website for videos, photos, and more info about improv on Albright’s campus.
